I have switched from a Google Pixel 3a (Android 12) to a Pixel 8a (Android 14) and resume points don’t work anymore when I play a file locally with Yatse 11.7.5a. I’m using VLC (version 3.5.4) and have configured Yatse to use VLC as video player in the streaming settings. Kodi 21.1 is running on a OSMC device (Vero 4K+) that access a Synology NAS via NFS. I’m able to remove watchpoints and toggle watched status with Yatse.
I have attached logs where I try to play a file via VLC from the beginning and a file from a resume point and in both I jumped to another point that should be then reported back to Kodi:
Here are also logs from my Pixel 3a (same versions of Yatse and VLC) where I resume playback of a file, jump to a different timepoint and the resume point is nicely returned to Kodi:
I have uninstalled VLC 3.5.4 and installed the latest nightly build of VLC 3.6.0 Beta 3, but it seems that Yatse is not recognizing this version and won’t play files anymore (only way is to put the player setting back to default and then select to open the file with VLC). Should it be normally possible to use nightly builds with Yatse?
There are several beta builds available, but I’m not able to install them (“App not installed as package appears to be invalid”): Index of /vlc-android/release/ (The Play store VLC version 3.5.4 is from February 2023, I’ve read they have some problems regarding private signing keys: x.com)
However, I can install nightly armv8 builds, support for them would be awesome!
The problem was fixed with the release of VLC 3.6.0 Beta 2 in the Play Store. Everything is working perfect again (also with Android 15)! And thank you @Tolriq for adding support for nightly builds of VLC, this could prevent future problems.
