Profile Pseudo-Support for Kodi

Hi! I know that Profiles in Kodi are a bit of a step-child, have been watching the situation for years now. One or two ideas for better profile support in Yatse…

I have about five different Kodi installations, with five different Profiles on each (Kids, Fitness, etc.). Each Kodi installation has its own, static hostname / ip address. Each Kodi profile has its own name and port number. So for example, Master profile on PC 1 has hostname pc1 and port 8080, Master profile on PC 2 has hostname pc2 and port 8080, Fitness on PC 1 has hostname pc 1 and port 8070, etc. etc.

So… 1) What, if “host pc 1 (master)” goes offline and yatse would automatically check, if any of the other hosts with the other port numbers on the same ip / hostname would respond and automatically switch to that? Doesn’t need to check that forever, maybe for a minute or two.

Or, more elaborate… 2) how about a Kodi compagnion app that works similar to a lighthouse. As soon as someone logs in to a certain host with a certain profile, that Kodi instance would broadcast that information, so Yatse could automatically switch? Customizable for example to only switch, if previously connected to the same host but with a different profile?

Does that make sense? Would that be complicated?

Right now, Yatse is very useful. Unfortunatelly, the Kodi profile support is lacking.

This is a duplicate and there’s already tons of explanation of why I won’t add that.

But the good news is that you can use tasker and automate to do whatever checks you want when you want and change the active connection in Yatse.
