New Personal mix option

Hi, I think the “Personal Mix” functionality is one of the best features of the App regarding music.

Currently there are 3 Options (I use the German translation, hope these are correct in English):

  • Album Mix (Just starts playing random when selected)
  • Songs Mix (Just starts playing random when selected)
  • Decade Mix (Lets you select the decade)

I suggest one more option: Genre Mix.

Because there are a lot of Genres, it might not make sense to just select a Genre from a list, like decades, because that list might be very long…

So I have 2 suggestions how this could be implemented:

  • Let the user select 5, 10? Preferred genres in the options, that appear in a list, similar to the decade mix. That should not be too much work to implement I think.
  • Let the user define 5, 10? Sets of genres in the options that appear in a list, similar to the decade mix. What I mean by this is for example, the user defines:
    Set1: Rock, Metal, Hard Rock
    Set2: Pop, Pop-Rock
    Set3: Dance, Party, Disco
    Set4: Electronic, Ambient
    Selecting a set will randomly play Songs of the specified Genres. Might be more work to implement but gives a lot more control to the user.

You should try Symfonium my other app dedicated for music for that.
It’s already possible there via smart playlists and personal mix on them.
And honestly quite a lot of work to port to Yatse for rare usage.
